The dogs were very happy
the day we piled into the car and went off to the Headstart
Ice Cream Social in Salem, MA. What fun! Ice
cream on a hot summer evening made them very
happy!
We
had a lot of fun at the Rice
Public Library in Kittery, ME.
In the cool of the trees on the library lawn, my
littlest fan tiny Max came with his mom, dad &
grandma! The dogs were a bit
cranky as it was warm and they wanted to go swimming in
Portsmouth Harbor but there were too many boats going
back and forth. So I convinced them to wait till we got
back home and then they played and splashed under the
sprinkler in the back yard!
It was a true dog day of
summer at the Sanford
"Summer Daze" festival but that did not slow down
the children who danced and circled around the tent pole
during the concert! It was completely
spontaneous and I'm sure it was the first circle dance
for the two and three year olds who were enjoying the
music!
The dogs and I have been
traveling out to Look
Park in Northampton, MA for the past five years
for their great family series every Monday morning in
the summer. Miss Mary came along for
the trip (this is her home town!) and did some great
landscape paintings in this very special historic park,
which has lots of good old-fashioned fun for the
children.
Every summer in August
we visit one of our favorite places, the Stevens
Library in North Andover, MA.
My how fast the children are growing!
They all want to visit with Doggie and Big Dog
after the concert, but of course the dogs are both
taking big naps after all the joking and playing around
during the show!
Later that week we
visited the Great
Falls Balloon Festival in Auburn, ME for the
first time. What a great big festival in a beautiful
location on both sides of the Androscoggin River with
walkways and bridges connecting everything!
It was a sunny bright very windy
day. All ages came and had fun
at the show in the big plaza above the river and when a
big gust of wind came and blew the awning down it didn't
matter - the show must go on! After
our concert a big cherry-picker truck came and took the
awning down. When the dogs saw the man riding up in the
bucket they wanted to go up for a ride too, but we did
not have any safety hard hats for them to wear so maybe
next time!
We met some new friends
at Catholic
Charities Childcare in Peabody, MA. They
especially liked keeping the beat and playing the shaker
eggs along with the music! We also visited a great
preschool, Storybook
Station in Kingston, NH, for the first time where
everyone had a jolly good time.
Then we saw old friends
at Kindercare
in Bedford, NH and Knowledge
Beginnings in Tewksbury, MA, and World
of Discovery in Londonderry,NH. And the
first question always is "Did you bring your
dogs?" Of
course!
