PUMPKINS! CIDER!
BRIGHT BLUE SKIES!
     OCTOBER 2007
2007 Nov raking leaves
Hello Friends!

Fall is here! The leaves are turning yellow, the apples are ripe and the pumpkins are plump and orange! It is the season for big country fairs and harvest festivals.

We are in harvest heaven!  Miss Mary has been baking big berry pies with fresh native blueberries and fall strawberries from Chases' Farm!  And soon we will have rosy

 Apple pies - she's promised.

Big Dog and Doggie sing a non-stop chorus of "We love pie! We love pie!"

OUT & ABOUT

September came and went in a flash!

On a rainy Saturday we had a fun time with a concert at community appreciation day at North Berwick Primary School.

The day started with a pancake breakfast, then at the afternoon concert Ron Robert, the principal got up with his guitar and sang a tune before the dogs and I joked around and we all sang and danced and kept the beat with shaker eggs.  In the evening there was a big spaghetti supper followed by the original "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" movie. It was a big day for everyone!

The Big Cowboy Adventure

A few days later Miss Mary and I left for a 12-day trip to Wyoming & Idaho! Miss Mary was invited out to paint in the wilderness of Idaho & Wyoming at a workshop with Scott Christensen, a famous western landscape painter.

In the mornings I worked on the songs for my new CD (coming soon!) and in the afternoon went out on painting trips with Mary where we saw real cowboys and even got caught in the middle of a cattle drive.  Boy was that exciting!  One minute it was quiet and the birds were singing and the next we were surrounded by cows running and mooing on all sides!  The cowboys on horses with their trusty dogs were herding the cows out of their summer pastures in the mountains to their winter pastures in the valley.  Golly, those cows were not happy.  They were having fun playing and running around the canyons!

Marcus visited the Driggs Elementary School the next day to sing and play games with the first grade. It was an exciting day! Marcus told them about Maine and the Atlantic Ocean.  Everyone was happy to hear about this interesting place called Maine. The children in Driggs live in a big valley in the middle of the Rocky Mountains and most of the children had never seen an ocean.

Later that week for two nights in a row we could hear the wolves howling at night to the moon. How exciting it was to hear them singing their songs!

The days flew by, Mary painted a pile of paintings and soon we were headed on our way though the mountains to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to catch our plane back home. After three days of early snowstorms in the mountains we were happy to come back to Maine and nice sunny October weather!
