     NOVEMBER 2007

Hello Friends!

The leaves are turning yellow, orange and red! The days are getting shorter! And Miss Mary has baked the first apple pie of the season! The birds are flying south in big noisy flocks. It must mean fall is really here.

We haven't had a frost here in southern coastal Maine and the sunny days recently have felt like swimming weather!  I carry my swimsuit in the car just in case I spot a nice sunny beach in my travels.  Some flowers are still blooming in the garden thinking its still summer and are as happy as can be.

The dogs really liked the apple pie that just came out of our kitchen and are very happy to hear about that special dessert called apple pie a la mode!  "A la mode" means it has ice cream on it! Their favorite food has a special name when you put a scoop of it on pie!  Now they are requesting oatmeal a la mode, peanut butter & jelly a la mode, hot dogs a la mode, cornflakes a la mode, pancakes a la mode, everything a la mode!  Those silly dogs!

Who ever liked hot dogs with ice cream?

So more apple pies are promised and pumpkin pies too!

Big Dog and Doggie now sing a non-stop chorus of "We love pie a la mode! We love pie a la mode!"

OUT & ABOUT

October was fun and festive!

We were at Apple Harvest Day on a sunny Saturday at Henry Law Park in Dover, NH.  Everyone was there having so much fun and enjoying the spectacular day.  Lots of our preschool friends came up before the show to double check and make sure the dogs were with me.

The next week on Thursday afternoon Big dog, Doggie and I headed north to the Pownal Elementary School for their big Book Fair. The children read me some books and I told my "Scary" Halloween story that ends in a big "Boo!"   When they heard that "Boo! " everyone all lifted off the ground by at least two inches!!

It was a delight to visit the three kindergarten classes at North Berwick Primary School. It was the first visit of my monthly program there through May 2008. It is going to be so wonderful to be able to see everyone learn and grow through out the whole year.  We had a great time!

Then on Saturday we were off to the York Harvest Fest for singing and dancing and eating and riding all around town in the big horse drawn wagon. It's a great volunteer event with so many folks who give back to their community. We see old friends every year, some have been visiting me since they were two years old and now are grown up and are almost as tall as I am!

Since this is the time of year for harvesting pumpkins Big Dog, Doggie and I went to Great Pumpkin Day at Smolak Farms in North Andover, MA. After we sang and laughed with everyone we went to the bakery for pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cake, pumpkin pie and of course pumpkin ice cream!  Big Dog made the children laugh when he tried to eat a whole pumpkin!  He almost did it, but not quite!
