Hello Friends!
Perfect summer days
of swimming & picnics are here! The
country fairs and festivals are here!
Its beach time!
Hooray for Picnics!
Camping! Canoeing! Surfing! Ice Cream! Blueberries! Corn on the Cob!
Summertime
is great! The gardens are growing,
beans, squash, corn, lettuce and tomatoes are pouring in! The flowers are all
blossoming and the humming birds, bees and butterflies are all visiting their
favorite flowers daily! The sunflowers are starting to bloom and the lilies and
nasturtiums are happy as can be! |
| OUT & ABOUT
|
|
We are having a fun filled busy summer with lots of shows
and lots of great people to sing with!
On July 4th we went to the Melrose Town Common
for their old fashioned 4th of July celebration where the whole town
turned out for a long fancy bicycle parade that stretched all around the Common
with bicycles, wagons and scooters all decked out in red, white and blue
streamers, balloons and crepe paper!
There was a big long kids tug of war, a water balloon catch, and Marcus
and the dogs singing all American songs and telling stories. The Rec director
Chuck Person is the man who makes this good old-fashioned fun happen! Then we headed up to Merrimack, NH for their
4th of July celebration where families and children all enjoyed
singing and celebrating this great holiday with Big Dog and Doggie!
Later that week in North Conway, NH we visited the Conway
Scenic Railroad for their big festival " The Little Engine that Could". There were trains coming and going all day
long. The dogs were very excited to be at the train station all day, and the
children were too! We did 21 shows in three days! There was lots of fun singing train songs, tooting whistles and
ringing bells, Big Dog wanted to drive the train but the engineer told him it
was even harder to drive a train than to drive a car and he would have to take
lessons! So he wanted to stay at the train station and learn to drive the
train! Only when he remembered we were heading to East Bridgewater the next day
did he decide to wait on the train lessons!
Miss Mary came along on this trip painting pictures of the trains and
the beautiful village with its tall mountains surrounding it!
The East Bridgewater Public Library was the next stop on our
journey. It is in a lovely old building with wonderful gardens. Our friend TJ
was waiting excitedly for us, it has been three years since we visited his
hometown! Big Dog and a special guest
appearance by Doggie delighted the children beyond belief! They couldn't believe their luck that Doggie
managed to wake up from his long nap in the car to joke and sing with everyone.
A huge crowd arrived at the
Cocheco Arts Festival in Dover, NH for mid morning fun. It was a perfect day with a nice high fog
bank keeping the weather cool and pleasant so everyone was dancing and singing
their very best! Moms, Dads, Grandpas & Grandmas, Aunties & Uncles,
daycares and preschools all came walking and pushing strollers with blankets
and snacks and they camped out for the first summer concert of the Children
Series. The Dover mounted policeman
stopped by to catch the music to the delight of the little ones who all lined
up to see his big horse!
The Hillsborough
Balloon Fest was our next stop. It doesn't get more "country" than this with
the festival in a big green field right next to the charming lovely down
town. Lots of families came out for the
singing and fun, children I met when they were just two years old have now
turned seven! It is so great to see old
friends coming back every year to say hello and sing our favorite songs! Miss Mary came on this trip to see the draft
horse-pulling contest - her favorite!
Big Dog, Doggie and I have been visiting preschools and
camps every day we aren't at a big festival.
Big Dog especially likes to see the big camp counselors dancing with the
kids and doing the limbo!
In North Andover after another perfect summer day concert,
Bailey and Caily came after the show to ask me to play the "Bean Song"! It is one of their favorites and I managed
to remember the words ...wow, it's from my first CD released in 1996 - that was
before Doggie and Big Dog were even born!
In the last week the
dogs and I traveled to North Conway, NH for a summer evening concert and to the
Rochester, NH Town Common where children, parents and lots of grandparents came
to enjoy the community and music on a summer evening. The Yarmouth Clam
Festival was a very big event. Everyone had a great time and the dogs couldn't stop
staring at the big clam walking around shaking hands and hugging everyone! The next day we headed off to Salem, MA for
the HeadStart Ice Cream Social! Could
we be any more excited? The dogs had
plenty of singing, dancing, stories and ice cream!
Right now we are
getting ready for the big fun trips to visit everyone in August and taking a
few days for some time to play! Its mid
summer here in Maine with hot days and cool nights so it has been perfect for
cool dips in the ocean after a hot day!
The chilly Atlantic has been warmed up a bit so the swimming has been
fabulous, and not too cold so our toes don't turn blue after a swim!
With August arriving the dogs and I looking forward to
seeing all of you this summer and we can't wait to sing and laugh with you all
again!
